Musée Bourdelle
This museum is located in the area of the Montparnasse Tower and is not easy to find. The museum is dedicated to the French sculptor Antoine Bourdelle and the different rooms have their own atmosphere. At the moment the exhibition about Madame Grès is intertwined with the permanent collection, creating a extraodinary atmosphere. While the Musée Galliera (the fashion museum of Paris) is under construction, different fashion exhibitions can be found in the Musée Bourdelle.
Madame Grès (her real name is Germaine Krebs) is an important name in the history of fashion. She was known for the sensual austerity of her draped dresses. Admiring her collection brings you back to a time that couture prevailed over ready to wear and that the outfit was shaped around the body, not the other way around.
